Mesa, our beloved companion, is the source of inspiration for the creation of Cats in Crisis.
Mesa was the most gentle cat and was a great joy to share a home with. In the fall of 2003,
he was unexpectedly diagnosed with advanced renal failure.
During his hospitalization, we faced the dilemma of increasing veterinary costs, of which could
have included $10,000 to pursue renal transplant. To our great sadness, Mesa's health
declined so rapidly that we lost him before having to consider such measures.
We wanted to celebrate his life by making a difference in the lives of others who find
themselves facing unexpected veterinary costs when their feline friends are diagnosed with a
major disease. We dedicate this organization to our young friend who we miss dearly.
